Do I need to verify my domain through Customer.io if I’m using Custom SMTP?

Best answer by Anonymous

If you are using Custom SMTP you won't need to verify your domain in Customer.io. Instead, you will need to follow the steps below:

  • Add Your Domain: You won't need to verify your domain in Customer.io, but you do need to add the domain to the Sending Domain page to allow for email sending!

  • Double check your SMTP: Once that’s done, be sure to double check that you have completed all required domain verification steps in your third party SMTP provider.

Please note that at the time of this writing, the domain will still appear with a red “unverified” flag on the Sending Domain Page, even after completing the above steps. However, this won’t be a problem at all due to the custom nature of your setup. As long as you complete the steps above, you should be good to go!
