Question

Removing unused attributes from data index

Hi all, we have quite a few unused attributes that were incorrectly added to some user profiles. The data for those attributes has since been removed, meaning we have no users with those attributes in use. I was under the impression that once those attributes were no longer in use on any user profile, they’d be automatically removed from the data index. However, we’re still seeing them in the index.

Is there a way we can delete these attributes from our data index for good? The example attribute I’m looking at hasn’t had a user with that attribute for at least 2 weeks.

Hi @hannahrobbins 👋

Aaron here from the Customer.io support team. Thanks so much for reaching out here today!

You’re absolutely right that unused attributes should drop from the data-index through the periodic “re-indexing” that we perform on our side. If you’re seeing unused attributes continue to persist, we’d love to get a closer look at that!

When you have a moment, could you kindly:

  1. Send me a private message with a link to your workspace
  2. And enable Support Access for us so that we can take a look.

Thanks so much Hannah! We look forward to assisting further. Cheers!

Hey Aaron,

we have acutally the same issue. Attributes are still there...

YourBestAccent

Hey Aaron,

We’re actually having the same problem, some of our attributes are just numbers, and have no people associated with them.

I will send you a private message and enable Support Access.

Thank you!
