How long time does it take to get in app message to show?

Is it possible to use customer.io as a “guide” and helper to describe functions like onboarding? Now when I made a message to show in my mobile app it took more than 30 sek to get the message to show up and that is too long. So I’m wondering if it takes that long time or if it often goes direct?

Hi @Stina ,  Mau shared your feedback and as she mentioned, we’re looking at ways to extend the in-app functionality to support near-real-time event-triggered messages on devices.  In the meantime, if this works for your onboarding use case, there’s a work around using page rules that would allow the in-app to show immediately.  If you have questions about this approach or want to talk more about your use case, reply here or reach out to product@customer.io.

Hi @Stina

There is currently a latency delay for In-App messages being sent, in particular for event-triggered campaigns, and the delivery landing for a profile to view within the respective App. This delay can usually range between ~5-20 seconds, in some rare cases a bit longer.

Can you confirm if you sent it from an event-triggered campaign?

Yes, it’s a event that I would like to trigger. Is this something that is going to be fixed?

@Stina

Thanks for confirming! I’m afraid we don’t have an exact timeline as to when it will be fixed but I will let our developers know you are also having experiencing this issue

Thank you!

An additional strategy I have used for mitigating this is placing the in-app message in the campaign workflow before a push notification which triggers someone to open the app and have the in-app message there on open
