We want to switch domain for live campaigns from @company.name to @em.company.name so that we can distinguish from the broadcasts.

Is this a good idea?
Should we expect any negative impact on the performance of these campaigns?

Thanks!

If you immediately switch all of your campaigns over to the new domain, yes you can likely see a negative impact.

Anytime you being sending with a new domain, even if it’s a subdomain, it’s a good idea to warm it up. If you take your time to do that and are intentional with it, you should be fine. Not sure what your volume is, but let’s say you send over 5,000 messages/day on average.

I would start very small, sending 100-200 emails on the new domain and segment it to your most engaged users first. From there you can gradually increase that number until you get to your full capacity. I would give yourself 4-6 weeks to do this. So 100 emails day one, by day 4 you’re at 250/day, day 8 you’re at 500/day, and so on.

There are no hard fast rules to warmup, and the Customerio team may have their own guidelines on how they want you to do this. It goes without saying, but you’ll want it completely authenticated before you send any mail out (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).
