Hello Customer IO Support Team,

Is it expected behavior that when 'Block third-party cookies' is enabled in Chrome under 'Privacy and security,' in-app messages do not appear in the browser? Additionally, are there any other popular browsers like Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chromium-based browsers where in-app messages may not work due to default third-party cookie settings? We are interested in gathering statistics to understand the percentage of users who might not see our in-app messages due to their choice of browser.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Hi there,

Great question! On our end, it is a known issue that in-app messages do not work when third-party cookies are blocked, when ad block extensions are running in the browser, and with privacy-based browsers such as Brave that block trackers and cookies.

The team is tracking a feature request to find a solution to this, so I’ve taken the opportunity to add your “vote” to the request.

Cheers,

Hello @Byron,

Thank you for your prompt response and for adding our "vote" to the feature request regarding in-app messages not working with blocked third-party cookies and privacy-based browsers.

To further clarify, we would like to confirm if, in the default settings of popular browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, in-app messages should work without issues. Specifically:

1. Is it expected behavior that in-app messages should work in Google Chrome without any problems in its default settings?
2. Similarly, should in-app messages function correctly in Safari, Firefox, and other common browsers under their default configurations?

Understanding this will help us ensure that our in-app messages reach the widest audience possible and allow us to communicate effectively with our users.

Thank you once again for your assistance and clarification.
